Hotel booking agencies will be featured for the first time in the 2009 Business Travel World Awards. The Judges’ choice award is a new category created by the judges to respond to the rapidly changing landscape of corporate travel and it reflects their own awareness of, and closeness to, those changes.
Every year Business Travel World canvasses suggestions for categories for the coming year. Quite often the recommendations are specific elements within broader categories such as online booking within Business Travel Product or low-cost airlines within Short-haul Travel Provider.
The judges recognised that although some of these specialist areas are contained within another category they do warrant emphasis and so they have created “Judges’ Choice”.
The category choice will change every year and be decided collectively by the judges. The judges identified Hotel Booking Agencies as the 2009 category because they have attracted more and more interest because of business won from TMCs, a phenomenon which has contributed to traditional business travel agencies paying more attention to the hotel booking side of their business.
No Business Travel World Awards judge may be involved in a category in which they have an interest and all Business Travel World judges sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
